When the world shifted in 2020, so did we. Leaving behind careers in the corporate and service industries, we followed a growing passion—creating thoughtfully crafted outdoor spaces for those who find peace in gardening, caring for animals, and reconnecting with nature. Our goal was simple: to build places of calm and comfort that serve as a sanctuary from the noise of everyday life.
We first met at 19 and 20 and have been adventuring ever since—traveling, learning through hands-on experiences, and connecting with incredible people along the way. Over time, that journey rooted us deeply in the traditions of craftsmanship and garden design that continue to shape our work today.
Tyler’s love for architectural design began in high school but truly took hold after we purchased our first home. His work draws inspiration from handcraft traditions around the world—from shipbuilders along the Ganges in Varanasi, India, to the refined elegance of Victorian-era English greenhouses. Medieval and Colonial craftsmanship continue to influence his approach, where beauty and practicality were seamlessly united through skilled hands and thoughtful design.
Brittni graduated from North Carolina State University in 2014 and spent several years in the nonprofit sector, where her passion for community, education, and meaningful impact took center stage.
That purpose-driven mindset continues to shape the heart behind Three Trees—guiding not only what we build, but why we build it.
Our home soon became more than a place to live—it became a workshop for purpose-filled projects. The very first structure was a simple chicken coop built from reclaimed pallets beneath the shade of our pine, pear, and dogwood trees on a freezing February day. What began as shelter for a small flock quietly became the foundation for something much greater.
Today, through Three Trees, we design and build refined greenhouses and garden structures for clients across the East Coast. As a husband-and-wife team, we remain personally involved in every project, combining thoughtful design, carefully selected materials, and hands-on craftsmanship.
Whether for growing, gathering, or simply slowing down, we believe everyone deserves a beautiful space that brings both peace and purpose.
We do more than just build chicken coops and greenhouses—we offer an opportunity to cultivate a space that embodies your unique lifestyle.
It's not merely about owning a coop or greenhouse; it's about creating a sanctuary where you can enjoy quiet mornings with a cup of coffee, find solace during the afternoon, and unwind in the evening with a glass of wine.
It's about cultivating fresh herbs, flowers, and vegetables year-round, regardless of the weather outside. It's about cracking open a freshly laid egg into the skillet for breakfast or sharing your eggs with neighbors.
It's about fostering connections with loved ones and sharing the abundance of your backyard retreat.
